Winnie Pollock 1925-2021

Edwina “Winnie” Pollock, 96, of Holton, passed away Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021.

She was born Aug. 25, 1925, in Soldier, the daughter of W.H. “Major” and Ella M. (Forrest-Cook) Capsey.

Winnie graduated from Soldier High School in 1943. She worked alongside her husband, Wayne, on the family farm.

She attended Buck’s Grove Church.

Winnie married Wayne D. Pollock on Feb. 15, 1947, in Olathe; they celebrated more than 62 years of marriage before his passing on Dec. 10, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Edwin Pollock; a great-grandson, Christopher Strahle; six sisters, Nora Helen Allen-Monroe, Maurine McCorkle, Mary Sourk, Lela Kroh, Betty Rieschick and Georgena Miller; and a brother, Kenneth Capsey.

Survivors include a son, Dan Pollock (Carol) of Havensville; a daughter, Janet Trainor (David) of Santa Fe, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Roederer of Kansas City, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Dana Kemp (Ian), Carrie Baxter (Matt), Sara Philipi (Danny), Wendy Milner (Rick), Pat McManamey (Chris), Dustin Pollock (Rachel) and Sean Pollock (Leah); 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Olive Hill Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
