Wilma Anderson 1939-2015
Wilma Lee Anderson, 76, of Holton, KS passed away Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015 at The Pines in Holton.
She was born Feb. 2, 1939 in Holton, the daughter of Raymond Lee and Gertrude Belle (Reynolds) Horner. At the age of 4, Wilma’s mother passed away. Her grandparents, William and Clara Kling, helped with her upbringing.
Wilma Lee graduated from Holton High School in 1957 and attended The University of Kansas for a year. She was a homemaker and housewife.
Wilma Lee was a member of the Evangel United Methodist Church. She was a former member of Eastern Star, Qui Vive, All-Star Club and Holton Country Club. In her younger years, she was very involved in 4-H and taught swimming lessons for many years.
Wilma Lee married Ronald Vance Anderson on March 19, 1961 in Holton. He survives of the home. Other survivors include two brothers, Dean Horner and Jack Horner, both of Ponca City, Okla.; many nieces, nephews and cousins; she was known for years as “Aunt Wilma” to many children in Holton.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Roberta “June” Longo on Sept. 15, 2013 and a half-brother, Jim Bland.
A Celebration of Wilma Lee’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton with visitation to follow. Private family inurnment will be at a later date in the Holton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Heart of Jackson Humane Society c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
