William Lott 1949-2022

William “David” Lott, 72, of Horton, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022, after a long battle with cancer at his daughter’s home in Hoyt.

He was born on May 17, 1949, in Farley, Mo., the son of Jack and Ila Irey Lott Sr.

David worked for Goodyear in Topeka for 42 years before retiring.

He loved spending time with his family at all the family gatherings, reading, fishing and running bank lines in his earlier years. After his retirement, he loved being outdoors mowing, tending to his garden, which he was very proud of his tomatoes he raised and he got a lot of enjoyment in sharing them with his family, neighbors and friends.

Survivors include two daughters, Shelley (Sam) OloKungboye of Topeka and Toni (Brian) Mattwaoshshe of Hoyt; two sisters, Connie (Donnie) Werner of Horton and Gay (Russ) Schuetz of Holton; two brothers, Jack (Janice) Lott Jr. of Horton and Aaron (Shari) Lott of Horton; 10 grandchildren, Nate Cashman, Alayna Brooks-Stanley, Whisper Tiscarenio, Alyssa Shane, Carley Scott, Brian Shane, A.J. Mattwaoshshe, Hunter Mattwaoshshe, Favour Olokungboye and Victor Olokungboye; and 11 great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Judy Holthaus.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12 at Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, where the family will greet friends on Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Burial will follow the services at the Horton City Cemetery.
