Willa Hart 1928-2020

Willa Nell Hart, 92, of Wamego, formerly of Holton, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2020, at Good Samaritan Society Valley Vista in Wamego.

She was born March 5, 1928, in Jewell County, the daughter of Wilbur “Frank” and Iva Viola (Aubushon) Crumley.

Willa graduated from Esbon High School in 1945 and had attended one year of college at Fort Hays State University. She had lived in the Holton community since 1970 and previously in Leona, Linn, Riley, Wathena and Effingham.

She was a secretary for BMB for many years and at the USD 336 superintendent’s office, both in Holton.

Willa married Elmer Hart on Aug. 10, 1947, in Jewell. He preceded her in death on May 20, 1977. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Viola Crumley; and a brother, John Crumley.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Hart (Judith) of St. Marys and Terry Hart (Jessie) of Kansas City, Mo.; four grandchildren, Tammy Friedl (Patrick) of Olathe, James Hart (Shanda) of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Jonathan Hart of Kansas City, Mo., and Jeremy Hart (Erica) of Kansas City, Mo.; and a great-granddaughter, Harper Hart.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 8 in Holton Cemetery. Willa will lie in state at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton beginning Wednesday afternoon.
