Wendel McKeever 1933-2017
Wendel L. McKeever, 84, passed away on Dec. 13, 2017.
Wendel was born Aug. 1, 1933, in Holton to Alice and Clark McKeever. He was raised in the Banner Community and graduated from Holton High School in 1951. He attended and graduated from Washburn University after serving in the Army, where he was stationed in Germany for most of his service.
After retiring Wendel volunteered at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, where he logged more than 8,500 service hours since 2000 until present. His favorite job was “rocking the babies” and he was recognized as “Volunteer Of The Year” in 2003. Wendel enjoyed many lasting friendships with his “babies.”
Wendel is survived by a nephew, Brad McKeever and wife Laurie and sons, Matthew and Mitchell of Flower Mound, Texas; a niece, Barbara McKeever of Dallas, Texas; sister in-law Sally McKeever of Richardson, Texas; cousins June and Bob Mikulan and their daughters Katie, Krissie and Kimmie, and their parents, Raymond and Lucille McKeever. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Harry and Duane.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 18 at Amos Family Funeral Home located at 10901 Johnson Dr. Shawnee, KS 66203.
