Wayne Ogilvie 1924-2019

Wayne J. Ogilvie, 94, a resident of Blue Springs, Mo., passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, at Saint Mary’s Manor in Blue Springs.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7 at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St., Blue Springs, Mo. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. at the chapel.

Wayne was born on April 19, 1924, in Hartman, Ark., to Hoyt and Matilda (Johnson) Ogilvie. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during WWII. Following his duty, he was united in marriage to Gladys Smith on Aug. 10, 1946.

Wayne owned and operated Ogilvie Drug Store in Holton for several years before moving to Blue Springs in 2007.

Survivors include his son, Dr. Gerald Ogilvie and wife Annie of Lake Lotawana, Mo.; daughter, Cheryl Hamel and husband Dr. David of Marysville; grandchildren, Brian Ogilvie (Monika), Blake Ogilvie (Julia), Brooke Hunkele (Dave), Ali Carolus (Brett), Katie Rucinski (fiancé Dave) and Emily McLouth (Ryan); great-grandchildren, Jack, Dylan, Olivia, Kara, Claire, Ben, Archer, Rowen, Gus, and George; and a sister-in-law, Hilda Ogilvie. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Ogilvie; parents, Hoyt and Matilda Ogilvie; and siblings, Norman, Kenneth, Donald, Barbara and Leon.
