Warren Hamer 1929-2015

 

Warren “Pappy” Austin Hamer died in Topeka on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, at the age of 85.

Warren is survived by his daughter, Vicki Bastin of Mel­bourne, Fla.; son, Warren Hamer II and wife Marianne of Overland Park; and daughter Rose Diaz of Chicago, Ill. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Yvonne Hamer of Denison, and many grandchildren and great-grandchil­dren. He is preceded in death by his father, Carl A. Hamer, and mother, Hattie M. Tannehill of Indiana; wife, Catherine Hamer of Chicago, Ill.; and a son, Theodore Hamer of Denison.

Warren was born on Oct. 9, 1929, in Ashland, Ill., to Carl Warren Hamer and Hattie Maude Tannehill. He married Shirley Cre­ager in 1950 and later in 1956 married Catherine Creti. He served in the US Army from 1947-1950.

A funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, at Denison Reformed Presbyterian Church in Denison, with a graveside burial to follow. The Rev. Ed Hindman will officiate the ceremony.
