Wanda Jenkins 1942-2023
Wanda Sue Jenkins, 80, Holton, died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023, at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center in Topeka.
She was born July 13, 1942, in Holton, the daughter of Henry and Violet Houpt Jenkins. She graduated from Holton High School in 1961.
Miss Jenkins had been a waitress and a cook in different restaurants. She later worked for Craig’s IGA, Shur-Save Grocery and Salts Liquor Store and as a PBX telephone operator for the Prairie Band Casino.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Holton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bill Jenkins; and three sisters, Jo Alice Shea, Ila Rose Moser and Rita Jenkins.
Survivors include nieces, Barbara Shea, Holton, and Terri Gallup and husband Andy; nephews, Gregg Moser, Holton, and Wayde Shea and wife Lisa, Ottawa; great-nieces and nephews, Caitlin Sonnich and husband Alex, Connor Shea and wife Montana, Claire Perry and husband Bret, Callie Shea and Dustin Gallup and wife Lindy; and a great-great-niece and nephew, Brooks and Adalee Perry.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be held at a later date in Holton Cemetery. Miss Jenkins will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
