Vivien Venneberg 1916-2018

Vivien Inez Venneberg, 102, Holton, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2018, at the Community Hospital in Onaga.

She was born July 28, 1916, near Johnstown, Neb., the oldest daughter of Thomas James Graff and Ann Catherine Zillig Graff. She graduated from Havensville High School.

Mrs. Venneberg worked as a ticket clerk for Union Pacific Railroad in Junction City during World War II. She and her husband returned to farming south of Havensville near the Buck’s Grove community after the war. She moved to Holton in September 1992

She was a member of Havensville Christian Church and had attended Buck’s Grove United Methodist Church for many years. She belonged to the Ladies Aid and had played the keyboard at Buck’s Grove.

She married Paul C. Venneberg on Feb. 13, 1937. He died Jan. 17, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Lois Dandliker, Edna Mills and Margaret Ann Osterhaus.

Survivors include a son, Paul Edwin Venneberg and wife Toni, Topeka; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Buck’s Grove United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Venneberg will lie in state until noon Saturday at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton.
