Virginia Alflen 1940-2019

Virginia Lee Alflen, 79, Centralia, died Saturday, May 18, 2019, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.

She was born May 13, 1940, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Charles and Lamonta Williamson Ellis. She attended schools in Raytown, Mo., and later earned her G.E.D. in Holton in 1976. 

Mrs. Alflen was a daycare provider for many years and had also worked for NEK-CAP in Holton.

She married Michael M. Alflen on Dec. 6, 1958, in Kansas City, Mo. He died June 19, 2009. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Lyman, in 1993; a brother, J.W. Ellis; and a sister, Sandra Brucken.

Survivors include a son, Jake Alflen, Alexander, Ark.; a grandson, Lance Lyman and wife Leigh, Tonganoxie; two great-grandsons, Landon and Lukas Lyman; two sisters, Earline Hill, Larkinburg, and Patricia Brown, Garden Grove, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 28 in Olive Hill Cemetery.
