Viola Cannon 1931-2016

Viola Maxine Cannon, 85, Goff, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016, at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center in Topeka.

She was born July 9, 1931, in Goff, the daughter of Carl and Reba Maxine Rokes Shuler. She spent most of her life in the Goff community.

Mrs. Cannon worked at Hillside Rest Home in Goff. She also worked for more than 20 years at Merry Manor in Holton in house­keeping and laundry and was a Certified Nurse’s Aide.

She married Donald F. Cannon on April 9, 1950, in Goff. He died Jan. 8, 2013. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Richard Can­non, in 1972, and Calvin Cannon, in 2008; a daughter, Donna John­sen, in 2011; two brothers, Law­rence Shuler and Harold Shuler; and a sister, Bonnie Jo Shuler.

Survivors include two sons, Raymond Cannon and wife Nancy, Holton, and Carl Cannon and wife Cathy, Goff; a daughter, Darlene Cannon, Goff; two sisters, Mary Ann Kirk, Goff, and Darlene McCann, Clay Center; nine grand­children; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Goff United Methodist Church. Family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery at Goff.
