Twyla Tribble 1926-2023

Twyla Mae Tribble passed away on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, in Meadows Place, Texas, at the age of 96.

Twyla was born in Soldier on Sept. 3, 1926, to Henry Fred and Audrey Merle Rieschick. She was one of seven siblings growing up with three sisters and three brothers.

On June 8, 1947, Twyla married Robert Gene Tribble. According to her wedding book, they went “steady” for one year before receiving the engagement ring at 3 p.m. on April 20, 1946, in Topeka. Her excitement is evident from the detailed notes. While Bob was in the Navy as an aviator, she wrote him every day and that love continued throughout their marriage.

Twyla loved to cook and bake, every meal was a wonderful feast. Twyla also loved to play the piano and sing. She had a wonderful voice that could harmonize with anyone singing with her.

Twyla was quite an athlete, playing basketball and softball at Soldier High School. That love of sports continued into married life as she and Bob were avid fans of Kansas State University sports, the Astros, the Rockets and the departed Oilers. If there was a game on TV, you could bet they were sitting in their chairs eating popcorn and watching the game.

Twyla was preceded in death by her husband Robert Gene Tribble, whom she whispered to every night saying, “I wish you were here Papa.” She is now with her dear husband.

Twyla is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Stacy Owen of Houston, Texas, and by her daughter and son-in-law, Tricia and Dave Wilkens of Meadows Place, Texas. She is also survived by three grandsons, Matthew and wife Meghan, Luke and wife Rachel and Andrew and wife Katie, along with three great-grandchildren, Rose Elaine, Henry Robert and Leonardt Jireh, all whom she loved dearly.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Twyla blessed all of us that knew her.

Last, but not least, a sincere, heart-felt thanks goes to the staff of the Hamptons at Meadows Place for their loving care, kindness and devotion to Twyla that went above and beyond her family’s expectations.

Graveside services were held Saturday at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
