Sue Mulroy 1945-2021

Susan K. Mulroy, 75, of Holton, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, May 14, 2021, at The Pines South near Holton.

Sue, as she preferred to be called, was born Nov. 14, 1945, in Topeka, the daughter of Fred and Nadine Wilson Geisen. She attended Assumption Elementary School and Hayden High School. She was united in marriage to Patrick Mulroy; they were divorced.

She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Mayetta.

From an early age Sue was fond of animals and was particularly keen on horses. As a teenager she was always bringing home strays, much to her parents’ dismay. Most of her adult life was spent living in the country, where she loved fishing, mushroom hunting and watching her sons in their early years compete in horse shows. Sue was a country girl through and through.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Nadine Geisen.

Survivors include two sons, Tim Mulroy (Michelle), Mayetta, and Tom Mulroy (Susan), Holton; her father, Fred Geisen, Topeka; a brother, Jon Geisen (Ronda), Mayetta; two sisters, Paula George (Neal), Lawrence, and Mary Headley (Charlie), San Antonio, Texas. She was particularly proud of her five grandsons, Brady, Cody, Blake, Riley and Cameron Mulroy.

Sue will lie in state after noon Wednesday at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton, where a rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, followed by visitation until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery at Hoyt.

Memorials are suggested to the Heart of Jackson Humane Society or Holton Community Hospital Hospice, and may be sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 1034, Holton, KS 66436. Online condolences may be made at chapeloaksfuneralhome.com
