Steven Haag (1947-2022)

Steven Joe Haag, 75, of Austin, Texas and formerly of Holton, passed away Friday, Sept. 9, 2022 in Austin, Texas. He was born on May 17, 1947 to Frances Evelyn Haag (Cocherell) and John Henry Haag in Topeka. He lived with his parents and older brother Charles Richard Haag during his early years going through Holton public schools until his graduation in 1966.

During Steven’s adult years, he worked for BMB, Holton, while finally settling in Austin, Texas.

He is survived by his older brother, Charles Richard Haag, Charles’s wife Betty Haag and their children Andrea Haag, her partner Ben Harrington, Emily May, Emily’s husband Travis May along with their two children Conner and Grady and many other family and friends.

He enjoyed years of service with Shiners International. He was a strong advocate for social programs involving patient representation and accessible transportation.

Steven was a lifetime dog lover, having had several canine companions during his life beginning with the love for and of his childhood puppy Mitzy.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2022 at the Holton Cemetery in Holton. Mercer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. To leave a special message for the family, please visit www.mercerfuneralhomes.com
