Sondra Hill 1935-2019
Sondra June Hill, 84, of Soldier, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019, at Medicalodges Jackson County.
She was born June 5, 1935, in Emmett, the daughter of Floyd D. Hladky, Sr. and Kathryn Juanita (Bailey) Hladky.
Sondra graduated from Soldier High School in 1952; after high school, she attended Clark’s Business School in Topeka. She was a homemaker, a cook for Headstart Preschool and was a “Foster Grandparent” for students in the first grade at Holton Elementary.
Sondra was a member of the Soldier Christian Church and helped organize and volunteer for the Soldier Memorial Dinners for many years.
She married Rex Richard Hill on June 6, 1954, in Soldier; they celebrated more than 50 years of marriage. Rex preceded her in death on March 17, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her son, Paul Michael Hill, on Oct. 18, 1995; her daughters, Krystal Rae Hill, on May 19, 1960, and Debra Lynn Sinclair, on Nov. 16, 2018; and two brothers, Gary and Rocky Hladky.
Survivors include a son, Rex Richard Hill II (Cheryl) of Circleville; a daughter, Lorri Ann Trimble (Brad) of Meriden; her great-grandson, Noah Hill, whom she was raising; six brothers, Bailey “Boots” Hladky, Floyd “J.R.” Hladky Jr., Wayne “Corky” Hladky, Joey Hladky, Randy Hladky and Rick Hladky; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home.
