Shirley Mick 1947-2020
Shirley Ann Mick, 72, Holton, died Thursday, July 16, 2020, at her home with family by her side.
She was born Aug. 28, 1947, near Holton, the daughter of Joseph Leo “Joe” and Mary Erma Eckert Doyle. She graduated from Denison Rural High School in 1965. She lived most of her life in the Holton community.
Mrs. Mick worked in childcare. She was also a paraprofessional at Holton elementary schools and worked for more than 25 years for the State of Kansas.
She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She was also a member of VFW Post 1367 Auxiliary and a former Lucky Stars 4-H leader.
She married Kermit R. Mick on June 4, 1966, at St Dominic Catholic Church in Holton. He survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Tamara Mick Ivy and husband Bryan, Platte City, Mo.; a son, Thomas Mick and wife Barbara, Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Cherrie Kehler and husband David, El Dorado; two brothers, Lee Doyle and wife Pam and Dan Doyle and wife Pat, all of Holton; and four grandchildren, Madalyn and Andrew Ivy and Ethan and Owen Mick. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Jo Doyle-Fitch.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 21 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Monday with visitation to follow at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
