Sandy Martin 1955-2020

Sandra Lou “Sandy” Martin, 65, Holton, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2020, in Topeka.

She was born June 4, 1955, in Wichita, the daughter of Jerry Duane Cochran and Doris “Jean” O’Neal. She graduated from Jackson Heights High School in 1973.

Mrs. Martin worked for Payless Cashways as a cashier and paint supervisor, Topeka State Hospital as a mental health aide, Conger Dental and the State of Kansas in the unemployment division, all in Topeka.

She married Darrell Allen Martin on May 17, 1980, in Holton. He survives.

Other survivors include her mother, Jean O’Neal, Holton; a son, Christopher Christie and wife Jessica, Topeka; a stepson, Robert Martin, Tijuana, Mexico; three sisters, Candace “Candy” Schmitt and husband Doug and Rhonda Toth, all of Horton, and Thresa Bontrager and husband Rusty, Independence; two brothers, Jay Cochran and wife Becky, Holton, and William Daniel “Dan” Webster, Whiting; and four grandchildren, Reagan Christie, Jaxson Christie, Trenton Henery and Emily Martin.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Duane Cochran; and a brother, Rickey Cochran.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
