Ruth Watkins 1927-2015

 

Ruth N. Watkins, 88, Holton, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, at Vintage Park in Holton.

She was born Jan. 27, 1927, in Wetmore, the daughter of William C. and Ola A. Burget Driscoll. She graduated from Wetmore High School in 1945. She had lived many years in the Muscotah and Larkinburg area.

Mrs. Watkins was a homemaker.

She was a member of Larkinburg Christian Church, a sewing leader for the Rose Valley 4-H Club and served on the Atchison County Election Board.

She married Phillip LeRoy Wat­kins on June 5, 1946, in Holton. He died Oct. 17, 2004. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki S. Hopkins; a grandson, Alan E. Elliott; a great-grandson, Wil­liam C. Elliott; two brothers, Bur­ton B. Driscoll and William Junior Driscoll; and two sisters, Hazel M. Ford and Bernadine B. Bohannon.

Survivors include two daughters, Anita Fassnacht and husband Tom, Muscotah, and Phyllis Webster, Holton; a sister, Wilda June Brown, Owasso, Okla.; six grandchildren, Patrick Fassnacht, John Fassnacht, Mark Hopkins, Brenda Nolan, Mi­chael Elliott and Pam Martin; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Larkinburg Christian Church, with burial to follow in Larkinburg Cemetery. Mrs. Watkins will lie in state at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton, where family will greet friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednes­day.
