Ruby Spaar 1936-2020

Ruby Pearl Spaar, 83, Sabetha, formerly of Holton, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.

She was born Nov. 3, 1936, in Sullivan, Ill., the daughter of Edward and Laura Jenkins Taylor. She graduated from Sullivan High School in Sullivan, Ill., and attended Anderson College in Anderson, Ind., for two years.

Mrs. Spaar was an accounting clerk for Goodyear Tire Company for 21 years.

She was a member of Lakeview Faith Chapel.

She married Richard V. Spaar on July 2, 1959, in Decatur, Ill. He died Feb. 28, 2008. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Eric and Rick Spaar; a twin sister, Ruth Matthews; a sister, Louise Schott; and two brothers, Joe and Johnny Taylor.

Survivors include seven children, Twila Colbert and husband Matt, Pensacola, Fla., Sheila Askren and husband Steve, Holton, Tony Spaar and wife Sheila, Louisburg, Doug Spaar and wife Mavis, Topeka, Tim Spaar and wife Teri, Pace, Fla., Angie Spaar, Indian Trail, N.C., and Laura Aguirre, Holton; two daughters-in-law, Lori Spaar, Holton, and Norma Spaar, Footville, Wisc.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Olive Hill Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
