Ruby Royer 1930-2017
Ruby Lucille Royer, 87, of Arrington and Holton, passed away Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at Vintage Park Assisted Living in Holton.
She was born Jan. 20, 1930, in Muscotah, the daughter of William Oscar and Bessie (Pruitt) Walker.
Ruby attended Muscotah schools. She was a farmwife and an assistant Post Master at Arrington Post Office for more than 20 years. She later worked for Flairfold Manufacturing in Hiawatha for 10 years.
Ruby was a member of the Nortonville Pleasant Grove Church and had also attended Arrington Methodist Church and Larkinburg Christian Church where she was a member of Ladies Aide. She was a member of Young Farm Wives, Delaware 76 Unit, Young Mother’s Club, Pollyanna Club and 4-H Leader.
She married Willard Francis Royer on Dec. 21, 1945, in Seneca. He preceded her in death on July 16, 2016. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Halei Royer; a grandson, Darian Campbell; and 12 siblings, Goldie, Charles, Etta, Elsie, Raymond, I.B., Donnie, Albert, Leonard, Willie, Lawrence and Clarence.
Survivors include three children, George Royer (Joyce) of Arrington, Linda Leeper (Bob) of Lenexa and David Royer (Brenda) of Arrington; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb, 24 at Nortonville Pleasant Grove Church. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery at Effingham. Family will greet friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
