Rosezan Toledo 1926-2017
Rosezan Toledo, 91, Mayetta, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, at her home.
She was born Feb. 25, 1926, in Mayetta, the daughter of Oliver and Mary Shoughnesse LeClere. She attended Marty Indian School in Marty, S.D., and graduated from Chilocco Indian School in Chilocco, Okla.
Mrs. Toledo retired in 1991 from St. Francis Hospital, where she worked as a ward clerk for 15 years.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church and Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.
She married Paul Williams. He preceded her in death. She later married Leonard Toledo. He preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Mitchell; five sisters, Mary LeClere, Cecilia Madrid, Julia Sanchez, Evelyn Davis and Clairicie Jenson; and three brothers, Leonard LeClere, Edward LeClair and John LeClere.
Survivors include four sons, Michael Toledo, Gary Williams and Marcus Gutierrez and wife Connie, all of Mayetta, and Ronald Gutierrez, Topeka; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, with burial to follow at the Danceground Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. today at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton, with visitation to follow until 7:30 p.m.
