Ronald Bone 1951-2021

Ronald Lee “Red Bone” Bone, 69, of Mayetta, passed away Monday, June 21, 2021, at Stormont-Vail Hospital.

He was born July 28, 1951, in Topeka, the son of Richard James and Kathleen Mae (Lewis) Bone.

Ron graduated from Mayetta High School in 1969. He was a heavy equipment operator for most of his life, working for Keim Trucking, Meier’s Ready Mix, Wildcat Construction, Jackson County Road and Bridge and K-State Agronomy Dept. Ron most recently retired from Prairie Band Potawatomi Road and Bridge in May 2021, after 18 years.

He was a member of ABATE.

Ron married Linda Marie Collier on May 14, 1982, in Miami, Okla. They celebrated more than 39 years of marriage.

Survivors include his wife, Linda, of the home; daughter Lori Smith (Glen) of Raytown, Mo.; son, R.J. Bone (Jeaniel) of Holton; sister, Nancy Johnson of Topeka; brother, Richard “Dick” A. Bone (Patty) of Mayetta; and six grandchildren, Austin, Ashton, Catie, Ronan, Wyatt and Tucker.

Family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 24 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 25 at Hoyt Cemetery.
