Roberta Wahwassuck 1969-2018

Roberta Audra “Meek-tah” Wahwassuck, 48, Holton, formerly of Mayetta, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2018, at The Pines in Holton.

She was born Dec. 18, 1969, in Topeka, the daughter of Johnnie P. and Roberta Lucei Wahwassuck. She attended Royal Valley and Kickapoo Nation schools, and after earning her GED, she attended Haskell University, earning a degree in business administration.

She was a member of the Drum Religion and the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation. 

Survivors include her mother, Roberta Wahwassuck, Mayetta; five sisters, Sandra Lee Moroyoqui, Lincoln City, Ore., Pam Simon, Horton, Theresa Hutchinson, Cantebury, N.H., and Lorrie Melchior and Ahnah Wahwassuck, both of Mayetta; four brothers, Ronnie Thomas, Warm Springs, Ore., Layton Abbott, Bellcourt, N.D., and Larry Picard and John P. Wahwassuck, both of Mayetta; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Johnnie Wahwassuck Jr.; a sister, Debbie Lucei; and a brother, Edwin Thomas.

Drum services will be held Wednesday evening at the Danceground Building on the Prairie Band Potawatomi Reservation. Burial will be held Thursday afternoon at Prairie Peoples Cemetery. Ms. Wahwassuck will lie in state at Mercer Funeral Home.
