Richard Davidson Sr. 1933-2019
Richard Thomas Davidson Sr., 85, Hiawatha, died Sunday, July 7, 2019, at Mosaic Life Care Center in St. Joseph, Mo.
He was born July 11, 1933, near Platte City, Mo., the son of Donald and Billie Willhoite Davidson. He grew up in the Dearborn, Mo. area, attending a one-room grade school and graduating from Camden Point High School.
Mr. Davidson assisted his family with a tobacco farming operation before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1951, serving in the Korean War until his discharge in 1955 at the rank of BT3. He and his wife lived in Kansas City until moving in 1969 to Kansas, where he farmed and worked for Wilde Tool Plant and Flair Fold Wood Shutter Plant before retiring.
He married Mona M. Myers on April 17, 1955, at Camden Point, Mo. She died Dec. 16, 2018. He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Billy Clay, Roger and Donald; and a sister, Shirley.
Survivors include three sons, Richard Davidson Jr. and wife Amanda, Hiawatha, Robert Davidson and wife Nancy, Mayetta, and Sean Davidson, Hiawatha; a daughter, Michelle Martindale and husband Roger, Everest; two sisters, Rebecca Lewis, St. Louis, Mo., and Sandra Timber, Kansas City; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A joint visitation and service will be held to celebrate the lives of Mona and Richard, with date and time to be announced.
