Randy Whiteaker 1958-2017
Randall L. Whiteaker, 58, Denison, died Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He had courageously been fighting ALS for five years.
He was born Dec. 8, 1958, at Harrisonville, Mo., the son of Thad T. and Norma Sue Ogden Whiteaker. He graduated from Highland Park High School in Topeka in 1976 and from Kansas State University with a B.S. Degree in Wildlife Biology in 1980.
Randy worked for the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism for 32 years, retiring in April 2013. He was a certified Wildlife Biologist. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Valley Falls, had taught Sunday School and had been a leader in their Awana Youth Program.
Randy was an avid outdoors man and he loved teaching his daughters to hunt and fish.
He married Brenda L. Mirelez, on Oct. 21, 1989, at Cherokee, Okla.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda, of the home; three daughters, Kara Whiteaker, St. Paul, Mariah Whiteaker, Silver Lake, and Catlin Whiteaker, Holton; his parents, Thad and Norma Whiteaker, Mayetta; two brothers, Doug Whiteaker, Fort Scott, and Ken Whiteaker, Topeka; and a special “granddaughter,” Rilley Robinson, Holton. Randy’s family is looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild later this year.
Memorial services were held Saturday, June 24 at Calvary Baptist Church in Valley Falls.
