Phil Teeter 1945-2022

Phillip Harris Teeter Sr., 76, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022.

He was born July 22, 1945, in Jeffersonville, Ind., the son of Nellie Loretta and Floyd Teeter, and he was raised by his grandparents, Pete and Goldie May. He lived in several states growing up, settling in Lawrence. 

Mr. Teeter served with the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam. He was an ironworker for 37 1/2 years after his military service, retiring in 2002.

He was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness in October of 1975. Following his retirement in 2002, he and his wife served in full-time ministry.

He married his wife Mary on Dec. 10, 1969. She survives.

Other survivors include four children, Phil Teeter Jr. and wife Bethany, Renae Dicus and husband Wardell, Anna Mills and husband Jay and Sarah Edmonds and husband Dennis; eight grandchildren, James, Kallie and husband Mike, Joshua and wife Madison, Hailey, Jack, Peirce, Landon and Rylan; two great-grandchildren, James and Theodora Fare; his stepfather, Les Boring; six siblings, David Teeter and wife Willow, Dennis Teeter and wife Sylvia, Ron Teeter, Bill Boring and wife Connie, Alice Boring and Paul Boring and wife Jamie; and several nieces and nephews.
