Pearcy Blanton 1922-2017

Pearcy Onita Blanton, 95, of Lovington, N.M., was born on July 28, 1922, in Shamrock, Texas, to James Winfield and Mary Gertrude (Mulkey) Wilder and passed away on Oct. 25, 2017, at the Lovington Good Samaritan Center.

Skeet had been a resident at Good Samaritan for seven years. She liked sitting by the door so when people came in she would just smile at them. Everyone liked her and her specialty was scratching everyone’s back. Skeet always had her lipstick on and was very particular about it. She loved the Lord and was always reading her Bible. She was a hard worker and worked just about all her life as a cashier. She also enjoyed fishing and hunting. She has been in Lovington since January of 1974.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Charles Johnnie Brown and Marion Blanton; four brothers, Evan “Nub” Wilder, Alva “Son” Wilder, Ferrell “Jack” Wilder and Richard Wilder; and four sisters, Mildred K. Turrentine, Elda Rada Harris, Nellie Dale Paterson and Jean Wynn.

Surviving her are two daughters, Sherry Ann and husband Rodney Durst of Soldier and Jan and husband Joe Lee Smith of Big Spring, Texas; and two grandchildren, Brian Scott Smith and Kerry Russell Smith, both of Albuquerque, N.M.

Memorial services were held at Good Samaritan Center and also private family services have been held.
