Patricia Iles 1954-2023

Patricia Mae Iles, 68, of Valley Falls, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2023, at The University of Kansas St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.

She was born Dec. 4, 1954, at Holton, the daughter of Glen and Louella Schmitt Place and was raised by her grandparents, Ed and Cleta Schmitt. She was a 1972 graduate of Holton High School.

Growing up in Larkinburg, Patricia worked as a telephone operator for many years and as a waitress at Trails Cafe, both in Holton. She also owned and operated a comic book shop as well as cooking at Village Villa in Nortonville.

She was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Nortonville.

She was married to Earl D. Iles, who preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 2012.

Survivors include a son, Robert Iles, Valley Falls; a daughter, Ann R. (Stephen) Pemberton, Valley Falls; a stepdaughter, Melissa (Jim) Isles-Delzeit, Troy; a sister, Debra Sides, Milford; three brothers, Danny Mishler, Lincoln, Neb., Bert Mishler, Fairbury, Neb., and Sam Mishler, Fairbury, Neb.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Diane Haynes, Mayetta.

Patricia was loved by all who met her. She could almost always have a way to help anyone with their problems. She was the best mom anyone could have. She loved being a mother so much that she would take anyone that needed the caring and love under her wing.
