Pat Hennis 1924-2016
Ora Patricia “Pat” Hennis, 92, Holton, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016, at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center in Topeka. She was born July 24, 1924, in Troy, the daughter of Kenneth and Fern Ward Brownlee. She attended school in Troy.
Mrs. Hennis was a homemaker and also worked in the fabric department at Walmart and for Oldham’s for a short time.
She was a former member of United Methodist Church in Arringtion and a present member of Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton. She and her husband were instrumental in the formation of Rock Point 4-H in Arrington and were 4-H leaders for more than 15 years.
She married Bernard L. Hennis on Jan. 18, 1942, in Hiawatha. He died Nov. 24, 1997. She was also preceded in death by three sons, Kenneth, Frank and Roger Hennis; a daughter, Patricia Clemetson; and two brothers, Kenneth and Alan Brownlee.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald Hennis and wife Suzanne, Mayetta, and William “Bill” Hennis and wife Deana, Byron, Ill.; a daughter, Janice Moulden and husband Vaughn, Topeka; a brother, Bob Brownlee, Kansas City; 30 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
