Nell Hawley 1929-2015
Nell Lorena Hawley, 85, Wetmore, died Friday, April 17, 2015, at her home in Holton.
She was born Aug. 30, 1929, in Bancroft, the daughter of Verne and Ruth Ardella Baird McDaniel. She graduated from Wetmore High School in 1947 and had lived in the Wetmore community for most of her life.
Mrs. Hawley worked for Luce Press Clippings in Topeka as a supervisor for 19 years. She was also a homemaker.
She was a member of Wetmore United Methodist Church and belonged to various card clubs.
She married James R. Hawley on April 14, 1948, in Wetmore. He survives.
Other survivors include a son, Russell G. Hawley and wife D.J., Conroe, Texas; a daughter, Violet Hintzman and husband David, Menomonie, Wisc.; a grandson, Dana Bahnsen, Milwaukee, Wisc.; two sisters-in-law, Jo McDaniel and Joyce Roush, both of Topeka; a brother-in-law, Lloyd “Punk” Hawley, Council Bluffs, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a five-year-old sister, Helen McDaniel; and three brothers, Walter, Leonard and Raymond McDaniel.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date in Wetmore Cemetery.
