Naomi Masquat 1971-2022

Naomi J. “Din” Masquat, 50, Mayetta, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2022, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.

She was born Oct. 2, 1971, in Holton, the daughter of Curtis P. “Nin-We” Masquat and Julia K. Harrison. She graduated from Royal Valley High School in 1990.

Ms. Masquat worked at member services for Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, a clerk at the gift shop at the Prairie Band Casino and was currently working for Nelson’s Retail in Mayetta.

She was a member of the Drum Religion and the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.

Survivors include a son, Jerald Cadue and wife Rockell, Hoyt; two daughters, Cass Cadue, Mayetta, and Jewel Cadue, Horton; three sisters, Angela “Jubby” Masquat and Josie “Mitchi” Masquat, both of Mayetta, and Janelle “Zahwee” Masquat, Lawrence; a brother, Elliot Wah Masquat, Mayetta; and five grandchildren, Marleigh, David, Harrison, Mayme and Julia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis P. “Nin-We” Masquat and Julia K. Harrison.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12 at Masquat Cemetery, 7510 182nd Rd., Mayetta. Ms. Masquat will lie in state from noon to 6:30 p.m. Monday and from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
