Milton Snyder 1932-2022

Milton Leon Snyder, 90, Holton, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022, at Holton Community Hospital.

He was born Feb. 21, 1932, in Circleville, the son of Walter Parrin and Grace L. Clemetson Snyder. He graduated from Circleville High School in 1950. He earned his associate degree in criminal justice at Washburn University.

Mr. Snyder served in the U.S. Air Force for more than 20 years, earning the rank of master sergeant. He also was a lieutenant for the Kansas Department of Corrections for more than 20 years. 

He was a member of Circleville Methodist Church and American Legion Post 44.

He married Ruth Place in April of 1953. They divorced. He married Mary Jo Keeler in September of 1980. She preceded him in death on March 12, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Grace Snyder; and three sisters, Zada Smith, Cleo Alfrey and Joyce Boyle.

Survivors include two daughters, Wanda White and husband Stan, Mayetta, and Karen Snyder, Holton; three stepchildren, Debra Cain, Rossville, Rexford Wyre and wife Rebekah, Carbondale, and Susan Crouse, Tecumseh; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with military honors will follow in Circleville Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7 at the funeral home.
