Michell Baker 1969-2021
Michell Lynn Baker, 52, Topeka, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021, at Stormont-Vail Hospital.
She was born July 21, 1969, in Syracuse, the daughter of Harmond “Gene” Slate and Karen Sue Reynolds Immenschuh. She attended Lakin High School and later earned her GED. She attended Colby Community College, Highland Community College and Garden City Community College.
Ms. Baker worked as a Certified Nurse’s Aide and Certified Medication Aide at High Plains Retirement Center in Lakin and at Briar Hill Nursing Home in Garden City. She also worked for Subway in Holton and I-70 Auction in Topeka.
She was a member of Topeka V.F.W. Post 1650 and in her younger years she was a Brownie and Girl Scout member.
She married Daniel Mannel in 1989 in Garden City. They divorced. She married Randy Baker. They divorced.
Survivors include her mother, Karen Immenschuh, Chelsea, Okla.; father and stepmother, Gene and Susan Slate, Lakin; four children, Zachary Mannel and wife Hillary, Maize, Jacob Mannel, Sioux Falls, S.D., Megan Mannel, Hays, and Devon Mannel, Sioux Falls, S.D.; a sister, Melinda Lytle and husband Gary, Mayetta; three grandchildren, Sophie, Greta and Heinrich; niece, Katherine Davidson; stepniece, Libbie Lytle; two nephews, Brendan Sean Cain and Geoffrey Aiden Cain; great-nieces, Mackenzie, Piper, Sophie, Nichole and Nevaeh; two stepbrothers; and three stepsisters.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Jack and Norma Jean Reynold; paternal grandparents, Harmond and Fay Slate; and stepfather, Warren Immenschuh.
Private family memorial services will be held at a later date.
