Michael Campbell 1954-2018
Michael Carl Campbell, 64, formerly of Hoyt, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, at The University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.
He was born Aug. 8, 1954, in Parsons, the son of Robert and Betty Campbell. He graduated from Royal Valley High School in 1972 and Allen County Community College. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Emporia State University and a master’s degree from Friends University.
Mr. Campbell worked at Westar Energy in Topeka for 32 years, retiring on Aug. 31, 2016. He taught primarily online classes for Allen County Community College in the past few years and was also a musician who wrote and recorded gospel music.
He married Bev Bergquist on Jan. 1, 1999. She survives.
Other survivors include three children, Lindsey and Justin, both of Topeka and Derek, Houston, Texas; two stepchildren, Alicia Bergquist and Alex Bergquist and wife Megan, all of Topeka; and three grandchildren, Caleb Bergquist and Andrew and Eathan Martinez. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother and sister-in-law, Claude and Lisa Campbell.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at The Topeka Gospel Chapel, 5919 Glenwood Drive in Topeka.
