Melvin Shupe 1943-2020
Melvin D. Shupe, 77, of Circleville, passed away Friday, June 12, 2020, at Midland Hospice Care in Topeka.
He was born Jan. 23, 1943, at the home of Dr. Forest Kendall in Holton, the son of Oscar Curtis and Lela Frances (Myers) Shupe.
Melvin graduated from Circleville High School in 1961. He worked for 45 years for Martin Marietta Materials Inc. as a clerk, core driller and surveyor. Melvin was a member of the Circleville Christian Church.
Melvin married Kathren S. Simmons on Sept. 6, 1969 in Circleville. They later divorced in October 1997.
Survivors include his three children, Candy Sue Mann (Jim) of Montana, Carmella Kay Campbell (Kevin) of Onaga and Curtis Duane Shupe (AJ) of Lenexa; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Shupe and Phyllis Shupe, both of Circleville; seven grandchildren, Gena Sullivan, Frank Balazs, Kipp Shupe (Cassey), D.J. Wheeler (Trevah Moeller), Walker Wheeler, Micheala Shupe and Mackenzie Shupe; and six great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Jaxson and Nathan Sullivan, Neveah and Donella Wheeler and McKinley Wheeler.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Marvin Shupe in 1935, Claude Shupe in 2009 and Lester Shupe in 2018.
Cremation has taken place, per Melvin’s wishes. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
