Melva Bowie 1927-2015

 

Melva Luella Bowie, 88, Crow­ley, Texas, formerly of Holton and McLouth, died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015, at Gentiva Hospice in Fort Worth, Texas.

She was born April 4, 1927, in Valley Falls, the daughter of Cecil and Luella White Tosh. She had lived in McLouth from 1955 to 1998 and in Holton from 1998 to 2015, and she had moved to Crowley, Texas, in February to be with her son.

Mrs. Bowie was a homemaker and also helped on the family dairy farm.

She married Earl Richard Bowie on April 12, 1946, in Valley Falls. He survives.

Other survivors include four sons, Gary Bowie, Austin, Texas, Kenneth Bowie and wife Linda, Crowley, Texas, Keith Bowie and wife Debra, Jennings, and Dennis Bowie and wife Penny, Lawrence; two sisters, Barbara Goodrich and husband Duane and Naomi Sue Manthe, all of Topeka; three broth­ers, Loren Tosh and wife Lois, Glendale, Ariz., Harold Tosh and wife Geneva, Holton, and Larry Joe Tosh and wife Shelly, Westcliffe, Colo.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was pre­ceded in death by two brothers, Millard and Donald Tosh; and a grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Valley Falls Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
