Maxine Lund 1921-2015
Iris Maxine Johnson Galster Lund, 94, Holton, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015, at Medicalodges Jackson County.
She was born Feb. 6, 1921, in Fillmore, Mo., the daughter of Ervin and Neva Lance Johnson.
Mrs. Lund and her second husband owned and operated a Grade A dairy farm. She and her husband also farmed hogs and beef cattle.
She married Ed Galster on Feb. 26, 1941. He preceded her in death. She married Walter James “Jimmy” Lund on Dec. 14, 1965, in Miami, Okla. He survives.
Other survivors include a son, LeRoy Galster, Holton; a daughter, Neva Harris and husband Butch, Topeka; a grandson, Eddie Harris, Topeka; a sister, Madella Schreiber, Soldier; a stepdaughter, Joanne Day, Holton; four stepgrandchildren, Samuel Day, Topeka, Carol Eakin and husband Dennis, Delia, Becky MacIntosh and husband Rob, Hoyt, and Amy Ross and husband Jason, Mayetta; and four stepgreat-grandchildren. In addition to her first husband, she was also preceded in death by three sisters, LaVella Mercer, Wilma Detimore and Deloris Segenhagen; and five brothers, Ervin, David, Ernest, Delbert and Melvin Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
