Mary Harden 1934-2022

Mary Chloe (Thomas) Harden, 88, of Mayetta, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at South Pines of Holton, with family by her side.

She was born March 1, 1934, in Mayetta, the daughter of Edwin and Opal (Burke) Thomas.

Mary graduated from Mayetta High School in 1952. She had worked for the State of Kansas in the KPERS division, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and was an activity director for various nursing homes.

Mary was a member of Mayetta United Methodist Church.

She married Charles R. Harden on Dec. 25, 1952 in Mayetta. They would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this December.

Survivors include her husband, Charles, of the home; her son, James M. Harden (Terry) of Hiawatha; her daughter, Jeannie M. Parrett of Mayetta; six grandchildren, Courtney, Crystal, Caitlyn, Tiffany, Dillon and Levi; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Opal Thomas; her son, Thomas Harden; and two grandchildren, Arial and Anthony.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 28 at Mayetta United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Mayetta Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
