Marvin Bottom 1930-2016
Marvin Dale Bottom, 85, Soldier, died Monday, May 16, 2016, at his home.
He was born Aug. 6, 1930, in Havensville, the son of Archie Horace and Eulah Hazel Armstrong Bottom. He attended Havensville High School and had lived in the Havensville, Goff, Onaga, Seneca and Soldier communities.
Mr. Bottom served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, earning the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, a United Nations Service Medal and a Purple Heart. He had worked for the railroad and for Nemaha County, and he did custom harvesting and logging.
He was a member of VFW Post 1367 in Holton.
He married Armilda Engles. They later divorced.
Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Ann Feldkamp, Centralia; three sons, Michael Bottom, Lawrence, Kevin Bottom, Wamego, and Gregory Bottom, Pawnee, Neb.; a brother, Gerald “Jerry” Bottom and wife Almetta “Jackie,” Soldier; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patty Ann Bottom; a sister, Lois Irene Mitchell; and three brothers, Kenneth, Archie Lloyd and Clyde Bottom.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Buck’s Grove Cemetery.
