Marilyn Helms 1932-2019
Marilyn Alice Deeter Helms, 86, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2019, in Oklahoma City, Okla.
She was born Oct. 20, 1932, in Columbus, Ohio, to Arthur and Helen Humphrey Deeter. She moved with her parents to Holton in the 1930s. She graduated from Holton High School with the class of 1950.
Marilyn was a longtime cafeteria worker in the Oklahoma City Public School System. She loved scrapbooking, collecting poems and interesting obits from the newspaper, drinking glasses, the cartoon “Dennis the Menace” and especially spending time with her family.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her adopted mother, Claridel Lewis Deeter; brothers Allen and Jack Deeter; and one sister, Bea Deeter Dewell.
Survivors include two sons, John and his wife Karon Helms of Yukon, Okla., and Daniel Eric and his wife Renee Helms of Mustang, Okla.; two daughters, Rebecca Bailey of The Village, Okla., and Elizabeth Helms of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bernie Deeter Roller of Leavenworth; plus many nephews and nieces.
Graveside services were held Friday, July 19, 2019, at the Rose Hill Burial Park (Woodsbrook area), 6001 N.W. Grand Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK 73118.
