Lucy Korber 1924-2023
Lucy Mary Korber, 98, of Meriden, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, at Autumn House in Topeka.
Lucy was born Jan. 13, 1924, at Farmington, Mo., the daughter of Elmer Francis and Betty Ann Thomure Govro.
Lucy was a mother, homemaker and farming wife. She was a member of Meriden United Methodist Church, the United Women of Faith, Ozawkie Rebekkah Lodge 657 and Pleasant Hill Grange.
She married Alvin E. Korber on Jan. 22, 1944, at Farmington, Mo. He preceded her in death on June 2, 2005.
Survivors include one son, Ed (Paula K.) Korber, Coldwater, Miss.; six daughters, Barbara Ball (Francis) Koder, rural Lawrence, Mary (Jim) Dix, Vinita, Okla., Wanda Collins, Meriden, Patricia Lee, Topeka, Clara (Scott) Brown, Gravois Mills, Mo., and Paula Debacker, Meriden; 24 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, great-great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, William “Bill” Korber; two granddaughters, Angela B. Carnes and Brenda Nadine Hite; and a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Brook Hite.
Funeral Service Celebration will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7 at Meriden United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6 at the church. Burial will be held in Meriden Cemetery.
