Lowell Alan Moser, 82, of Effingham, passed away Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.

He was born April 1, 1934, in Horton, the son of Ralph George and Cecil Irene (Bartley) Moser.

Lowell graduated from Powhat­tan High School in 1952 and Highland Junior College in 1955. He received his Bachelor’s in Agri­culture Economics from Kansas State University in 1961. Lowell proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Lowell was a Soil Conservation Planner for the USDA in Holton, joining in March of 1969. He later worked as District Conservationist in Atchison County, giving farmers assistance and guidance in soil con­servation and pasture management. Lowell retired after 28 years.

For most of his life, Lowell raised Holstein, Hereford and Angus cattle and showed them at local, district and state fairs. He was a proud member of the Ameri­can Hereford Association, Ameri­can Angus Association, and Kansas Livestock Association.

Lowell enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren succeed in their ac­tivities. After graduation from Kan­sas State University, he remained a fan for the rest of his life. He was a Kansas State University football season ticket holder for many years and attended several bowl games.

He was a member of Effingham Union Church and Elks Club in Hiawatha.

On June 7, 1964, Lowell married Mary Jane Warren in Hiawatha. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Dan Moser (Lisa) of Westmore­land; a daughter, Kristi Moser (Rob Curley) of Spokane, Wash.; three grandchildren, Justin, Ryan and Allison Moser; and two sisters, Annette Larson (Stan) of Lawrence and Jane Fox (Bill) of Overbrook.

Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10 at Mer­cer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial was to follow in the Holton Ceme­tery.
