Lois Wing 1930-2015
Lois Ellen Blackwood Wing, 85, Lenexa, died Monday, Oct. 19, 2015, at her home at Lakeview Village.
She was a graduate of Denison High School and lived most of her life in Jackson County.
Mrs. Wing was a homemaker and worked in various positions at Denison State Bank over several years.
She was a lifelong member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church, where she served as a youth leader and teacher and was active in the Women's Missionary Fellowship. She was active in the Jackson County (KS) Historical Society, Pilot Club and Business Women in Holton, Fairview Club, Meals on Wheels, Shawnee Mission Medical Center Volunteers and Lakeview Village Library.
She married Merlin Wing. He preceded her in death, as did her parents, Henry and Florence Blackwood; three brothers, Junior, Dwayne and Dale; and a sister, Louise.
Survivors include sisters, Fern Sublette and husband Buck, Sun City, Calif., Alta Tweed and husband John, Winchester, Twila Cunningham and husband Dick, Hudsonville, Mich., Della Crissman and husband Paul, Centennial, Colo., and Corajean Smiley and husband Steve, Athens, Ga.; a brother, Carl Blackwood and wife Marcia, Indianapolis, Ind.; two sisters-in-law, Ellen Blackwood, Holton, and Kathleen Blackwood, Sabetha; two sons, Dennis Wing and wife Debbie, Shawnee, and Keith Wing and wife Claudia, Beaver Falls, Pa.; two daughters, Sandra and husband Curtis, Olathe, and Sharon and husband Doug, St. Louis, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Reformed Presbyterian Church of Shawnee, 6835 Pflumm Road, Shawnee. Burial service will follow at 4 p.m. at Denison Community Cemetery, Denison. Family will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Amos Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive in Shawnee.
