Lois Ackerman 1946-2021

Lois M. Ackerman, 74, Netawaka, died Friday, July 2, 2021, at The University of Kansas Health System, St. Francis Campus, in Topeka.

She was born Nov. 5, 1946 in Topeka, the daughter of Marion and Pearl Spiker Christy. She graduated from Goff High School in 1965.

Mrs. Ackerman worked as a nurse’s aide at Merry Manor Nursing Home in Holton and at various other nursing homes.

She married Delbert Ackerman on Sept. 14, 1979, at Hiawatha. He survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Waneta Ackerman, Netawaka; three brothers, Russell Fulkerson and Marvin Fulkerson, both of Goff, and Daniel Fulkerson, Holton; a sister, Janet Fulkerson, Topeka; and two grandchildren, Jordan and Aalayah Ackerman. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John Fulkerson; and a sister, Virginia Fulkerson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 8 at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Netawaka Cemetery. Mrs. Ackerman will lie in state after noon Wednesday at the funeral home. Visitaton will be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Thursday.
