Lester Arnold 1933-2015
Lester “Kit-tam-wa” Arnold, 82, Mayetta, died Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.
He was born March 22, 1933, in Holton, the son of William and Leona Pahmahmie Arnold. He attended Nieve Country School in Jackson County and later earned his G.E.D.
Mr. Arnold served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean conflict. He had been a self-employed painter since 1979 and had previously worked for Goodyear Rubber and Tire Company.
He was a member of Potawatomi United Methodist Church, We-Ta-Se American Legion Post 410 and Citizen Potawatomi Nation.
He married Wanda C. Fitzsimmons on May 8, 1965, in Topeka. She died in March of 1987. He was also preceded in death by a son, Joseph Arnold, on July 18, 2006; and a brother, Albert Arnold.
Survivors include two daughters, Laura Schreiber and husband Steve, Mayetta, and Elaine Dreasher and husband Rick, Hoyt; four sisters, Josephine “Irene” Fleming and Corine Samqua, both of Topeka, June Bosworth, in Ohio, and Geneva Curran, Holton; a brother, Robert Arnold, Topeka; and four grandchildren, Curtis Dreasher, Justen Dreasher, Jamie Arnold and Kurtis Ramage.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with military honors will follow in Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
