Les Needham 1930-2019
Leslie L. “Les” Needham, 89, Valley Falls, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2019, at Midland Care Linnwood Home Plus in Valley Falls.
He was born July 16, 1930, at Atchison, the son of Harry and Margaret Hines Needham. He was raised by his father’s sister and brother-in-law, Mona and Orville Moody. He graduated from high school in Wichita and attended Friends University there.
Mr. Needham was an entrepreneur with business interests in banking, insurance, farming and ranching and was a crop insurance adjuster for more than 50 years.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Valley Falls, Great Bend Lodge 15, AF&AM, a life member of the Scottish Rite Masons in Salina and a member of York Rite Chapter 33, Council 12 and Commandery 12, all in Wichita.
He married Julia M. Kozanecki on May 19, 2005, at Nortonville. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, L. Kent Needham and wife Terry, Tonganoxie; a daughter, Shannon Kimberly Logan, Broken Arrow, Okla.; a stepson, Jacob R. Kozanecki and wife Misty, Yukon, Okla.; a stepdaughter, Ashley Kozanecki Jensen and husband Brandon, Valley Falls; two sisters, Karen Reda, Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Judy Bassnett, Collierville, Tenn.; four grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Timothy Logan; a brother, Harold Needham; and a sister, Vera Cooper.
Private family graveside and inurnment services will be held in Lancaster Cemetery.
