Leroy Martin 1932-2015

 

Leroy P. Martin, 83, Holton, formerly of Topeka, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, at Medicalodges Jackson County in Holton.

He was born Jan. 14, 1932, at St. Benedict, the son of John and Merwina Levings Martin. He graduated from Seneca Public High School in 1951.

Mr. Martin served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He later was a heavy equipment op­erator for Martin Marietta in Topeka.

He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Topeka.

Survivors include a brother, Charles Martin and wife Bev, Mayetta; three sisters, Betty Fuqua and husband Jack, Mayetta, Patricia Taylor, Wichita, and Anna Mae Whitesell and husband Gene, Os­age City; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a twin brother, Leo Martin; a brother, James Martin; and two sisters, Charlotte Jones and Rosemary Passino.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Mayetta. Burial with military hon­ors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery at Nortonville. Mr. Mar­tin will lie in state at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton, where a rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Wednesday, followed by visitation.
