Leo Ackerman 1943-2020

Leo Dale Ackerman, 76, Goff, died Friday, March 13, 2020 at Medicalodges Jackson County in Holton.

He was born Dec. 21, 1943, in Vermillion, the son of Vern Dale and Mary Montague Ackerman.

Mr. Ackerman was a farmer in Vermillion most of his life. After farming, he worked in construction for Bill Bruns and Sons, BMB and helped Jerry Segenhagen with various jobs, all in Holton. He later worked for Clark Chevrolet as an auto detailer for nine years.

He married Cynthia Louise Olds on Aug. 9, 1984, in Holton. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Barbara L. Rice and husband Chris, Goff; four sons, Lavern D. Ackerman, Washington, Lavon F. Ackerman and Loren J. Ackerman, both of Lincoln, Neb., and William D. Ackerman, Holton; a sister, Fay Downy, Marysville; a brother, Delbert Ackerman and wife Lois, Netawaka; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry L. Ackerman and Brian Olds; a sister, Polly White; and a brother, Eldon Ackerman.

Family will greet friends from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 18 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. A private family burial will be held at a later date in Vermillion Cemetery.
