Kenneth Nott 1939-2016
Kenneth Eugene Nott, 77, Holton, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, at his home after a battle with cancer.
He was born May 5, 1939, in Dover, the son of Clarence A. (Sr.) and Isla Winona Bottom Nott. He graduated from Oneida High School in 1958 and had lived all of his life in the Holton and Wetmore communities.
Mr. Nott owned and operated car/auto body shops in Wetmore and Holton and later Skelly Gas Station in Holton. He worked 17 years for Meier's Ready Mix in Topeka. He was a truck driver for Holton Livestock Exchange and Collins Trucking and later owned and operated K&J Trucking with his son Jim. He most recently was a cattleman.
He married JoAnn Pool on Sept. 2, 1961 in Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Vicki Kirby and husband Robert, Lenexa, and Joyce Diehl and husband Matt, Wetmore; a son, Jim Nott, Mayetta; five sisters, Lois Nissen, Wetmore, Rose Honeyman, Topeka, Sandy Nott, Holton, Sue Coffman and husband Bill, Milford, and Thelma Brown, Holton; seven grandchildren, Taylor and Patrick Kirby, Ryan, Katie and Kim Diehl and Ed and Brandon Nott; two great-grandchildren, Jaxson Diehl and Braxton Brown; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty Christian and Florence Nott; and three brothers, Claude, Tommie and Jay Nott.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Holton Cemetery.
