Kenneth Broyles 1929-2015

 

John “Kenneth” Broyles, 86, of Delia, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015 at Kelly House in Meriden.

He was born June 9, 1929, in Jackson County, the son of William Kenneth and Sarah Florence (Smiley) Broyles.

Kenneth graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1947. He was a life-long member of the Delia community as a farmer and stock­man. Kenneth proudly served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Silver Lake United Methodist Church.

Kenneth married Ermyl M. Reeder on July 26, 1953, in Silver Lake. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Laura Anderson (Rick) of Meriden; a son-in-law, James Hunt of Garden Plains; and seven grand­children, Jerrod, Jimmy and John Hunt and Chris, Matt, Daniel and Nathan Anderson. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Hunt, in 2012.

Graveside services were held Monday, Jan. 4 at the Walnut Hill Cemetery north of Silver Lake.
